This week, Blade Way successfully lowered and reinstalled a blade on the purpose-built test tower at Liftra headquarters in Aalborg, Denmark.
The blade was hoisted to the top of the tower and bolted securely in place, before the root and tip yokes unclamped to let the blade hang free. The blade was then brought safely back down and placed on the ground by the yokes and wire system.
External guests will be able to see the Blade Way system for the first time at Liftra Open House 2017, where the technology will be demonstrated.
Blade Way is a solution for replacing single blades and pitch bearings without using large conventional cranes. It addresses a lot of current problems in the industry for blade maintenance in hard-to-access areas, where large cranes can be difficult to transport and assemble.
